First things first, congratulations to the Auburn Tigers for your amazing win! As SEC supporters we are extremely proud of Auburn for clinching another National Championship title for the SEC! That makes five in a row for the SEC which is extremely impressive.
The game was very exhilarating to the end. I was surrounded by Mississippi State alums, University of Mississippi alums and Georgia alums, but everyone put that aside for a solid four hours to become a TIGER! That is something that is magical about living in the south and being a part of the Southeastern Conference. Since I am biased and believe that the SEC is in fact the best, I can’t imagine it any other way.
The Oregon Ducks put up a bit of a fight, but in the end the only thing going for them was their new uniforms which I have to admit I actually liked. I am not sure if that look would go over well in our conference, but it looked good on Oregon. I especially liked their bright yellow socks that resembled duck feet. Their helmets also stood out to me. I liked the gray and thought it looked very sharp. Last but not least, their numbers on their arms were very new and innovative. I haven’t ever seen that before, and I am curious to see if other teams will start wearing something similar.
It suspected that this game would really be a battle of marketing and commercialism since both teams have huge sponsors. Auburn is sponsored by Under Armour, while Oregon is sponsored by Nike. However, I really didn’t see that from Auburn as much as I did from Oregon. And perhaps that could have played a part in Auburn’s victory—fewer distractions and the traditional Auburn uniform is what we saw in the game.
Auburn’s defense stood out to me and with dominance. We have all heard a lot about Auburn’s offense but in the National Championship their defense stepped up to stop Oregon’s high powered offense. The defensive player of the game went to Nick Fairley and the offensive player of the game went to Michael Dyer. They were both very outstanding and represented Auburn and the SEC very well.
